And “Titri Digital Services – Private Limited” is born!
This post is also available in: French
Here, we don’t tell you much about work. There are some explanations… Nicolas’ first post concerning his job triggered a meeting with his boss with a pretty simple outcome “no post about what’s going on in the office even if the company name is not used”. Ok, big companies and social media is not going well (maybe it’s even worst in India).
Concerning Johanne, she was coming in India to start her own company and didn’t want to talk about it until it was launched. And that was a pretty wise decision as it took her 6 months to be able to start operating. India is only the 132th country in the world where it’s easy to set up a business according to a ranking from the Wolrd Bank. Even being helped by the traditional “chartered accountant” for all the procedures, the whole process seems endless and full of details specific to the indian administration.
For example, to choose a name, you need to submit 3 different ones (with an explanation) and the administration is the one which will choose the one used after. We had to face a lack of imagination… Actually, Titri is a wink to the number of our appartment “T3” cause the security guards call us that way and it is now one of our nickname here (with the Indian pronunciation, please !). Titri means also nothing negative in any of the local languages of the area (Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalaam…) cause we had chose “Hogi at the beginning believing it means “Go” but apparently it was more “Get out of here!”… Didn’t seem very efficient on the HR point of view !
Then we had to find a place (not very far from our home) and hire 4 people. The hiring process was also full of surprises. We received around 300 resumes but at the first interview session, nobody came! We had forgotten that in India, the companies are the ones which have to make efforts cause the labor market is much more dynamic compared to Europe.
After that, we were ready to experiment the worst : people late, people who didn’t come without explanation, people staying only one or two weeks…. Finally, we are very surprised, nothing of that happened ! Of course, it’s not that easy but our 4 employees come on time, work hard and warn us when they are late or sick.
Concerning the activity, we’ve started, thanks to an opportunity (one first client), to work on data entry outsourcing and data search. The job is very basic and the aim is to enrich databases looking for the info where we can find it.
Now, thanks to our geographical position in the Indian “Silicon Valley”, our network and our experience, we’ve began to develop an other kind of activity: website creation, mobile apps, facebook apps and community management in English. We are building a local network with freelancers and small web agencies which are, of course, more attractive for their cost and skills from for Western clients. So we’re doing the interface between the service provider/the freelances and the Europeans clients.
We’ve created a website TITRI (only in French yet) to introduce our new company so do not hesitate to have a look at it, give us your feedback or send us a quote for a project 🙂
